Gluten free Garlic Flatbread with Spicy Cashew Cheese Pizza Flavored Sauce


I haven’t had garlic bread in forever. I have to confess I actually have a slight sensitivity to garlic or at least used to, but I’ve been ok with garlic powder recently just not fresh garlic. I make Flatbread often and tonight’s dinner was a random idea seeing I had no clue what I was planning to prepare.

I was hoping to make a spicy tomato sauce for dipping, but realized I had no tomatoes. Then I thought back to my raw pizza bite creations and thought why not try a raw cashew cheese pizza flavored dipping sauce. I see a pizza night happening soon and using this sauce recipe for that.

The good thing about being great at preparing food is I always manage to whip up something tasty. It does make me laugh when someone might as what do you possibly eat as a gluten free vegan? Now my reply is feel free to follow my food blog to see I eat a ton of great food.

I do try limit my use of olive oil, but I’d rather use a high quality olive oil over butter seeing I rarely use it. Feel free to make this oil free though I’m going to attempt that at some point.

Ingredients for flat bread:
1 cup almond flour
1/2 cup tapioca flour
Generous amount of black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoons onion powder
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 cup filtered water

In a mixing bowl combine all the ingredients except Italian seasoning . Only use 1 teaspoon of garlic powder save the rest for the topping. Mix well then heat a pan over medium heat on the stove top and poor the batter in. Once the sides of the bread look cooked it should be ready to flip. Cook both sides about a 10 minute process. Then add the flat bread to a baking dish. Add the olive oil then season with garlic powder and Italian seasoning and bake for 15 minutes.

Ingredients for cashew cheese sauce:
1 cup cashews soaked and drained
8 Sundried tomato pieces soaked in 1/2 cup of water ( save the water it’s used to blend the sauce)
3 inch piece of a red bell pepper
1/3 cup nutritional yeast
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Sriracha ( optional)
1 heaping teaspoon dried oregano
1 heaping teaspoon dried basil
Red pepper flakes to taste

Add all the ingredients to a high speed blender and run until well combined to a creamy consistency.
